Community Based Rehabilitation Project - MAANASI

To enhance activities of daily life of intellectually disabled children and to create a situation in which the community of the disabled persons, participates fully in their rehabilitation process and create an environment to achieve barrier free situation and help them to attain equal human rights, we started a Community Based Rehabilitation project in 1999 with the support of Andheri-Hilfe Bonn.
MAANASI - our CBR project is not just the development of few children in every village but an epoch in the history of their villages - they have started to accept these children with dignity. What else should we succeed. Centres are in remote villages, without any access to schooling. A Community Care Volunteer attends about ten children in each centre. The local community helped them to have their own building. Few trained in these centres have now started doing independent jobs in protected village environments. The partners in development for this project are Andheri-Hilfe, Bonn, a German supporting agency.
With their support, we are sure that we have grown up to international standards in CBR. A Dairy farm, for rehabilitation for the disabled, is the outcome of the tie up with Andheri-Hilfe Bonn
